227 Clinton Street, a 25-foot-wide brownstone in Cobble Hill, hit the market in mid-September for $3,400,000 and by the end of October was listed on StreetEasy as being in contract. Apparently, though, things didn’t work out, as the gorgeous double-duplex house has been back on the market for a couple of weeks now. Man, is that parlor floor to die for or what!

  2. Minard, it seems pretty disingenuous yourself to jump on posters who bring up the location as something less than perfect. The reality is that living on Clinton, especially that close to Atlantic Ave., is just not as desirable for many people as living on one of the side streets off of Clinton. And people who spend over $3 million for a house that “needs work” usually can afford to pay a little more to be exactly where they want to be. It’s just like the home on Cheever Place. Cheever is 1/2 block from Hicks Street, and if you have a choice, most buyers would prefer being on Strong Place and being that much further away from the BQE. There’s nothing ridiculous about pointing that out.

That being said, it is a lovely house despite needing work, so perhaps there’s some buyer for whom the size and details are more important than the location.

  3. is the last house up before the mansion on Clinton…so maybe they could add side windows like Norah? if so, worth the price. At least on Clinton can walk out your door and hail a cab no problem.
Just be careful because some guy is always walking around with a dog looking into people parlor windows though.
