The owners of 88 Prospect Park Southwest in Windsor Terrace paid $895,000 for the 1,750-square-foot townhouse in 2006 and, from the looks of it, did a pretty comprehensive renovation. Now they’re asking $1,150,000 for the place. The listing portrays the house as a good condo alternative, which isn’t a bad way to think of it, given the size and finishes. It’s pretty pricey on a per square foot basis for a house in this area but for someone who wants to be right across from the park in a totally refinished space maybe it’ll do the trick.

  1. we had 2 – 3 bedrooms, 4 people, one bath. when we first moved into the projects after getting kicked out of the basement apartment we moved into a 2 bedroom and i got the master bedroom, my uncle got the tiny bedroom, and my grandparents slept on a pull out couch in the living room. totally embarrassing as a kid, i never had people over because of that. but yeah one bathroom i dont remember ever having been an issue.

When I think back, the most amazing thing was that we only had one bathroom, yet it wasn’t a big deal.

we only had one too!!! and it was never a big deal! even when i turned like 11 or 12 and was just starting to explore my body in the bathtub!

  3. the only apartment i lived in as a kid, that wasnt a projects apartment, was in a basement. i LOVED it! it did get flooded a LOT tho and eventually we were evicted by the owners because of too many calls to the cops about domestic abuse going on in the apartment. The owners had just bought the built and wanted the white trash (us) out. :-/

  4. omg, 6 people with 1 bath. Cruel and unusual. Child abuse in brownstoner world where 1750 sq feet is teeny cottage.
There were fire hydrants on the street though I hope.
(we had 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, 7 people)

  5. When I was a kid, I was so envious of friends who had basements, and hence room for model trains, Bobby Hull hockey games, etc. We were a family of 6 in a 2-bedroom apartment. Not much room for those sorts of things.

When I think back, the most amazing thing was that we only had one bathroom, yet it wasn’t a big deal.

  6. “11217, I used to spend too much time in my parent’s basement as well. You see! we have a lot in common!
It was, like most basements, cooler than the rest of the house by about ten degrees. But then I turned eleven, and decided to get out more.”

Yet here you are what 60, 70 years later still acting like an 11 year old!
