We’re certainly digging the location, size and type of the house. There’s also tons of original detail that is right up our alley. The renovation, though, feels too over-the-top to us. Call us old-fashioned, but the glitziness and polish of the whole thing feels a little out of place for Fort Greene. And that yard? What were they thinking? We suspect the sellers would have been better served by a more understated approach, especially when it comes to reselling in these non-boom times.

I think the house is to die for. Beautiful. I can’t believe stoner wrote that it is too luxurious for Fort Greene. I wonder what that means. Are buyers of multi-million dollar Fort Greene brownstones just plain homespun workin’ folk?
YAY, more porn!
5,000 SF of nipple-hardening square feet for today’s urban nuclear family.
That yard is straight out of Mill Basin. I love it. 😛
WOW, moreteasir, we haven’t seen you in some time. I missed our arguements though I can’t remember what any of them were about. 🙂
Buggin’ Out: Who told you to step on my sneakers, who told you to walk on my side of the block, who told you to be in my neighborhood?
Clifton: I own this brownstone.
Buggin’ Out: Who told you to buy a brownstone on my block, in my neighborhood, on my side of the street? Yo, what you wanna live in a Black neighborhood for, anyway? Man, motherfuck gentrification.

Yards are meant to be grass.
does anyone else think this house is too big for a one family? rooms are oversized, two per floor for the kids, one for the parents. and the garden was a mistake, although it prob doesn’t get enough sun, therefore the hardscape choice.
builders: how did they manage to remove the load bearing partition wall on the upper three floors (front) to create spectacular width rooms? expensive, no?
It’s “classy.”
The yard is a bit much, I agree. I’m not sure what they were thinking with that “stone castle look” to the firplace and crown moldings in the living room.
The tub in the middle of the bthroom is a bit ostentateous, yes. But HELLO, it’s one of the few houses that really understands ensuite master bedroom & bathroom.
The kitchen may not be to everyone’s taste but I think it looks fantastic.
All this place needs is a return of the parlour floor crown & fireplace details and about $15,000 (at most) of yard work.
