House of the Day: 1549 New York Avenue
This is one flip that has flopped. The unattached, shingled house at 1549 New York Avenue was purchased for $820,000 in March of 2007 and was promptly put back on the market for $1,300,000 in July. Then it sat, and sat, and sat, until it was lowered earlier this week to $975,000certainly one of the more dramatic price cuts we’ve seen recently, but clearly a much needed one. The house is quite charming (though we’re not loving the kitchen and bathrooms) and has a two-car garage to boot. Can any readers speak to what this block is like?

My favorite photo is the one of the ‘bowling alley’???
THIS HOUSE IS CLEARLY IN EAST FLATBUSH. THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS AWEFUL!!! A FEW BLOCKS AWAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF BROOKLYN COLLEGE IS MIDWOOD, HOME OF THE MODERN ORTHODOX JEWS.
YOU HAVE REGULAR HOUSES THERE SELLING NORTH OF $1.5 MILLION.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
“Um…East Flatbush?”
The only comment I need to read. Next!
What is the southern boundary of Crown Heights? I would have guessed that this house is in Flatbush.
The buyer at 820,000 in 2007 was duped as this plave back in 2006 went for 400,000.

you are mean 2:06 but I liked it and you’re the only one who spoke the truth about this place!!!
I’m tired of impeccably styled west elm scenes that look like no one real lives in them. Look at that woodwork, who the hell cares what the bathrooms look like? It’s a nice house.
And I like the range hood in the kitchen. I want a range hood in our kitchen.
I’d also assume that the bed was moved behind the door so they could photograph the entire room… or, you know what? I don’t care. I don’t need a stylist to help me buy a house.
Thank goodness that The What is back.
This has become way too boring.
OH, the price is still too high for that location and condition.
Needs to be slashed Fred Krueger style!
