House of the Day: 381 Bainbridge Street
While measuring in at a modest 2,322 square feet, the three-story house at 381 Bainbridge Street in Bed Stuy looks like a nice option for a young family looking to have their own place. For the same price as a one-bedroom at 189 Bridge Street, you get three bedrooms, an eat-in kitchen and a yard,…

For the same price as a one-bedroom at 189 Bridge Street, you get three bedrooms, an eat-in kitchen and a yard, along with lots of beautiful old woodwork. (Our only quibble with this place is the exposed brick, but that’s remedied easily enough.) For $659,000, this place is in surprisingly good shape, having been recently renovated. Think it’ll fly?

Thanks.
Good luck on this one Alfred E. Newman.
I have a crush on The What. I’m not kidding.
10:03, can you say cheapskate who has buyer’s regret for twenty years?
at 659,000 that comes out to $284 a sq. ft….compared to $700 sq. ft. in park slope.
Can you say Trailblazer.
this is too boring,
we all know black neighborhoods, we all know white neighborhoods, can we talk about something less obvious?
Stop correcting other peoples typos, this is a blog, not a spelling bee.
A ‘Deal can be had in any neighborhood, some may consider 3.6 Million for a fixer upper in Park Slope a ‘Deal’.
I’d like to find a ‘deal’ in a predominately white neighborhood with a high crime rate.
“Everyone who owns a house in the better areas of Crown Heights and Bed Stuy knows what they’re selling for these days” – So where does that leave the people in the not so better areas of Crown heights???? The ‘better’ part of Bed Sty and Crown heights is one block from the not so ‘better’ part.
And what percentage of Bed Sty and Crown heights’ black population are living in these so called ‘Townhouses’ that they own…as opposed to living in a ‘project’ or a city subsidized unit, or renting at below market rate.
“Half your problem with “predominantly black neighborhoods plagued with crime” is your perception” – My perception is that in the last month there have been THREE shootings in Crown heights.
If not for the crime in this predominately black neighborhood, how come the homes in the ‘better’ part of Crown heights are not listing for 3.6 Million for a fixer upper?
So tell me, what neigborhood does a ‘White’ person have to buy into now, and how far out from the city, to be considered a trailblazer….Kansas??
