Flip-o-rama! This attractive three-story brick house on Waverly between Gates and Greene was picked up by the current owner last summer for $985,000. After, presumably, some cosmetic (and possibly more) improvements, it’s back on the market at $1,595,000. Hey, why not? The parlor floor of this two-family house is just a few steps up from street-level, making the “English basement” a bit of a stretch. As for the interiors, there are some nice old details and floors intact; we also can’t get our heads around why a flipper would put in such weird sinks when a classic porcelain pedestal would have done the trick. And the asking price of $1,595,000? Possible, but we think probably overshooting by a hundred grand or so.

This use to be FSBO, right? If so, there was tons of negative feedback about it. There was an entire discussion about how it faces the elementary school and how just down the block there is a PACC property. I think this is a dupe.
They made a lot of intense design choices for someone who was planning to flip. Why make choices that some might love but others really might hate. Why not go relatively high quality but fairly neutral. If I were buying, it would be valuable to me to know that, even if I didn’t like some of the finishes, I wouldn’t feel the need to change anything immediately. But if I already know I can’t stand the kitchen, or the bathroom, or whatever, then I have to budget a renovation into the price I am willing to pay for the house. Design is personal, and you would think flippers would want to avoid attempting too much of it.
Kind of a Hippocratic Oath for flippers — first, do no weird.
I love the sinks. All of them. Much more original. And I am a little annoyed at everyone insulting them. Finally someone puts some design into it and then people complain…
What’s with the black staircase? I’d really like to see a floorplan of this house. The pix don’t show much in the way of storage and I’m not sure where that kitchen is located. Lots of white paint and fixtures is not enough information.
They should have spent less money on the sinks and more money on wall cabinets for the kitchen.
yeah dogg. that wood sink is WHACK! what were they thinking. overall though…. nice reno. more personality than other ones but still classy (except for that sink!!)
Waterworks for the shower thingy I believe.
Didn’t you have this one as a house of the Day about a month or so ago? As I recall it was a nytimes posting then and was selling for more…
Some nice work. What’s the square footage?
That wood sink thing is fug…but Im drooling over the marble bath. Its not very practical (no storage) but that doesn’t stop me from wanting it. Anyone know who makes that model of exposed shower? I can’t find one I like.
I dont know if its worth the 1.6M and I would hate to live next to that ugly house to its left…but its a really beautiful house on the inside. I actually love all the white paint too. Very chill.
