Schwing! This new listing at 588 5th Street isn’t hard to get excited about. Located on a park block in the Central Slope, the single-family house has amazing original details, including parquet floors, wood moldings, mirrors, and plaster moldings. The unusual facade, a mix of brick and brownstone, is also part of the package. The kitchen definitely needs some renovating, but it’s huge and has some nice old built-ins that we’d want to try to keep. The asking price is $2,500,000 and we think they’ll get pretty darn close to it.

  1. jurist, looks like you’re right from the floorplans. The broker description however states that each floor has a full bath.

I suspect they do not and that this place is in need of all mechanicls to be upgraded and additiopnal bathrooms and a new kitchen.

  2. Swoon. I assume a gut job will probably end up killing that quaint little kitchen, but nonetheless, this is a grand home.

Although that’s a big price tag.

  3. beautiful with a price to match. I actually love those old cupboards in the kitchen they could be polished up and look totally great. The only prob here is that the house -though very clean and well cared for- is not renovated so I assume all the plumbing and wiring and hvac would need to be addressed. No big deal but most in this price range want all that work done already.
