House of the Day: 77 Midwood Street
This new listing at 77 Midwood Street may not be the priciest listing in PLG–that distinction still belongs to 20 Midwood Street at $1,780,000–but it’s still a pretty penny for the beautiful but historically discounted nabe. This new listing at 77 Midwood Street may not be the priciest listing in PLG–that distinction still belongs to 20 Midwood Street at $1,780,000–but it’s still a pretty penny for the beautiful but historically discounted nabe. We suspect that Number 77, which is asking $1,579,000, may make life difficult for Number 20, given that the less expensive house’s historic details look just as impressive. We shall see though: The five-bedroom house traded for $1,300,000 back in 2007 (after being a House of the Day in 2006). Update: For anyone curious about what the kitchen looks like, you can check out 77MidwoodStreet.com.

OMG Brooklynista, you’re right! i’m salivating over this one too — it is beyond gorgeous. mr. hedman truly did his thing – the interiors of these homes is breathtaking and what these people have done to it is simply amazing!
This house could not be prettier or more perfect. Love the bathroom, wood counters in the kitchen, and the stained glass and trim throughout. Oh, and I know the owners.
Brooklynista Axel is a awesome architect.. He knows how to put his foot in it 🙂
Thanks for the neighborhood complement Blayze
“May I nominate this thread as a marker for a new phase of irrational exuberance?”
“IMO, whoever gets this house (Flatbush Avenue, dollar vans and all) will be one seriously wise and lucky buyer. Excuse me while I go run to buy a lottery ticket”
Maybe I’m doing the math wrong? But I’m getting around 3000 square feet. (Plus at least a partly finished basement.) So that’s about $525/foot. Is that so crazy?
OMG. This house is one of a group of some of my all-time fave houses in all of PLG/LM! Our guy Axel truly did his thing when it comes to these beauties. Having never been inside any of them, I have always been driven to drool just by eyeing their striking exteriors, what with their alternating blond brick and limestone facades, those fantastic stone porches, the lovely bays, the driveways and garages, etc., etc. Now, with these interior photos, they appear all the more enticing. On top of it, Bob is right — this is one of the best blocks in the Manor. IMO, whoever gets this house (Flatbush Avenue, dollar vans and all) will be one seriously wise and lucky buyer. Excuse me while I go run to buy a lottery ticket!
Benson, really, you don’t appreciate this house?
I do say, my monocle has fogged up.
You’re right Bob Marvin, I forgot the PLG district covers a decent amount, but there’s still several gorgeous blocks of un-landmarked rowhouses that could rival anywhere in Park Slope or Bed-Stuy, especially some gorgeous second empire townhouses on Parkside between Flatbush and Bedford. Not to mention that little stretch has a treasure trove of other styles too. The area is in need of an expansion.
