This new listing at 369 6th Street isn’t the biggest or most ornate house in Park Slope but it sure is cute as a button. The three-story brick is a legal two-family but has been configured as a one-family. The moldings and woodwork are impressive and the place clearly has had a tasteful renovation at some point recently. So the question is not whether this place will catch the eye of buyers but what they will make of the $1,749,000 asking price. Thoughts?

  1. One bathroom for three bedrooms, with the third bedroom being beyond small (less than 6 ft wide). Plus, the kitchen needs to be renovated and the facade needs work. Otherwise, a lovely home.

    Perhaps my friend who want to move close to me from his 2BR in UWS is having a hard time to find a buyer and only one offer which is 200k less than what he paid in 2005. so it depends. at some point he will have to cough up the rest but he makes 600

  5. Well, how about this. (real situation) Couple with 2 kids together bring home $200K or so. After fed/state taxes, 401K contribution, health insurance prem. deduction, pretax health and travel account deductions, take home is around $110K. Apartment, not large by any means, runs them $34K annually, nanny/babysitter runs them about $15-20K (depending on freelance contracts), student loans run them 7K, car payment/insurance/gas about $5K, college funds about $5k, religious school and church membership dues $6k, necessary groceries/clothing/pharm/medical about $15K… rest goes for expenses that arise – presents, airfare to visit relatives, etc etc whatever little is left goes into savings/investments, and thats not alot… So, yes, $200K gives you a pretty middle class lifestyle in this city..
