House of the Day: 47 Willow Street
If you don’t mind your townhouses on the skinny side, this new listing at 47 Willow Street might be a relatively inexpensive way to get your piece of the rock in Brooklyn Heights. (Yeah, we know, we’re not saying $2,400,000 is an insignificant amount of dough–just that it’s not a lot for a whole house…

(Yeah, we know, we’re not saying $2,400,000 is an insignificant amount of dough–just that it’s not a lot for a whole house in nice shape in The Heights.) The Second Empire brownstone has lots of beautiful original details (though the exposed brick on the garden level feels a little out of place). One upside of the house being narrow is that there’s no need for a supporting wall in the parlor floor so the staircase is open to the living area. Lovely!

Btw, I’m not being sarcastic. This house is a real gem. Someone call WORLD OF INTERIORS.
The house is furnished beautifully. I love seeing a grand piano as one enters a house.
Really nice house, and practically perfect in every way. Yes, it’s narrow, but the floorplan and the volumes are very pleasant. Well priced as well, considering everything.
i love it. My BH dream. wish I had $2.4 handy so I could snatch it up.
This is soooo Brooklyn Heights. Very, very blue blood — right down to the antique furniture and the “distressed” everything (water stains on the ceilings, banged up floors, faded upholstery, large gap in the briok wall of the kitchen…). Don’t change a thing!
The room layouts seem to work very well despite the narrow width.
Nice.
Completely agree with Minard. It may be narrow, but a full brownstone that’s not in need of a gut reno in this location for under $2.5MM is VERY good.
Based on the description and width I thought I would hate this house, but after looking at the floor plan and pictures, it looks quite nice.
The price seems good to slightly low for the neighborhood and size.
six bedrooms in Brooklyn Heights for 2.4 million is pretty good. Yearly taxes seem nice and low. This is a lovely house. The new owners can update the kitchen and add another bath on the top floor. I hope whomever buys it keeps the beautiful plaster details in the parlor level. I really love this house.
