The photos may look like they were taken by a circa-2004 cameraphone, but this listing at 280 Van Brunt Street might still be worth a look for the right open-minded buyer. First off the building has a retail space and is on the main retail stretch of Red Hook (right next door to the Red Hook Lobster Pound!). And while they need a complete overhaul, the upper two residential floors actually appear to have a bit of charm to them. And the price is only $699,000. What do you make of it?

Anyone know why it says this was sold in December 2010 for $320,000?

…annnnnd down to a $620K ask.
Open house this weekend.
Slap some lipstick on that pig and drive it to the fair.
There are empty lots in Red Hook with asking prices north of 1 million.
But hype and delusion is not restricted to Red Hook. It’s a borough-wide phenomena.
“I remember all the hype when Barbara Corcoran said Red Hook would blow up big. Didn’t happen.”
The prices still act like it happened.
The building leans and the second and third-story windows were left wide open for at least a year. It’s two doors down from the Lobster Pound- the building in between, which is also for sale, houses the neighborhood’s laundromat. Having opened our business on Van Brunt Street this fall, I can tell you that the location isn’t the problem- the condition of the building is.

Stolen pics!?
I’ll take the toilet if no one wants it.
I went to a party in red hook a few weeks ago. The apartment was great, but the bus ride to and from there seemed to take forever.
Mary- the broker- is a Red Hook, columbia waterfront fixture. The pix do her justice… Honestly this house has a lot of curb appeal… it’s actually a perfect reno project for the right person in Red Hook. If someone snaps it up for high 5’s, it’s a great deal. The building next door is also for sale. It’s in quite a different state, mind you, with all the beautiful brickwork. I think it’s asking 1.5m or something? It’s with Corcoran.
In 20 years this place will be under water.
