Generously sized, this two-bedroom rental is on the first floor of an early 20th century standalone set on the leafy streets of Flatbush. It offers a bit of outdoor space with a front porch as well as in-unit laundry and a renovated kitchen.

The house at 421 Marlborough is in the micro-nabe of Ditmas Park West and dates to 1904. Filings that year show builder E. R. Strong was planning multiple single-family frame homes designed by architect Benjamin Driesler on this side of the block, then known as East 15th Street.

Entrance to the floor-through unit is off the aforementioned front porch with a small foyer opening into a hallway that runs the length of the unit. Living room, dining room, and bedrooms are one one side of the hall and kitchen and bath on the other.

The living room faces the street, with a bay window looking out to the porch. Both it and the adjoining dining room have wood floors and are generously sized.

In the renovated kitchen there is a tile floor, a dishwasher, white cabinets, and butcher block counters. A similarly topped island has a drop-leaf edge for increasing or decreasing work space.

A stacked washer/dryer is located in a closet on one side of the kitchen while the single bathroom with white fixtures is on the other.

One bedroom has two exposures; both have closets. The floor plan shows two other closets in the hallway.

The listing notes there is “potential” for private backyard access.

Ryan Roberts of Douglas Elliman has the listing, and the apartment is priced at $3,250 a month. What do you think?
