This early 20th century Ditmas Park detached house conveniently has a home office right off the foyer, a spacious interior and plenty of curb appeal.

The house, located at 1304 Ditmas Avenue, was pitched as “absolutely the best value” in an 1916 sales ad at the time, boasting parquet floors, a 32-foot-long living room, two baths and a lot large enough to add a garage. Not all of those details survived over the years, but a garage did indeed get built.

A 2017 renovation retained that long living room but eliminated some walls to open up the dining room, kitchen and sunroom — and finished everything off with pale floors and white walls. The original open porch, seen in the 1916 ad, had already been filled in, and there’s a large foyer with a closet and a windowed home office with built-in shelves.

The long dining room has a built-in banquette with shelving at the end nearest the kitchen. The pale finishes continue there with white and grey cabinets topped with white quartz countertops. There’s also a grey and white tile floor and the expected high-end appliances, including two Wolf ovens.

Also on the first floor is a full bath with some vintage charm; it has aqua tiles and a built-in shower. It’s next to a library that is indicated as a potential bedroom on the floor plans. The other five bedrooms are upstairs, including a master with a windowed walk-in closet. There are another two full baths, one with yellow tile and a vintage tub and the other renovated with the grey and white scheme from the kitchen.

Out back there’s a wood deck, lawn and pergola-covered seating area as well as a two-car garage.

The house would have set you back $13,000 in 1916. It last sold in 2015, before the latest renovation, for $1.8 million. It’s now listed with Rebekah Carver of Douglas Elliman and is asking $2.4 million.
