If you don’t mind ’em long and skinny, this two-bedroom co-op at 232 President Street in Carroll Gardens could be for you. The apartment has lost some of its original detail to a middle-of-the-road-looking renovation, but there’s still some plaster moldings left in the main living/dining area. Located in the rear, the master bedroom is probably nice and quiet. The maintenance for the walk-up apartment is $650 and th e asking price is $699,000. What do you think?

  1. Yes, a couple today that is willing to spend $700,000K to buy a cramped 2 bedroom when they have a baby, who wont be in school for a few years down the line, and will require more space when said child reaches school age, and could easily rent a bigger place for less money, is not making the wisest decision. Those unwise decisions can ultimately lead to a distorted market.

  2. Morons .. . . . you mean why not yank them out of school? Or start looking for another good public school all over again if they’re not yet in school?

I don’t know . .. yes, I agree that children tend to rule the house too much today. But morons?

I f%&king hate that kind of language.

  3. I have been in plenty of similar sized apartments and I would tend to agree that its small and cramped. first floor isnt the best comp because of the garden premium and height of market. But who knows, there are so many morons willing to pay a S–load just to stay in Brooklyn when they have their first kid, that it may just go for ask or more.

    I hope not.

  4. Yeah, it’s about 800+ square feet, which is almost or about $900/foot which is certainly high for location and (in my opinion) long skinniness, though this does better with that layout than most.

  5. > Maybe #3L will spark a bidding war like #1L

Maybe. Three things that #1L had going for it:

    1) “Absolutely fabulous space totally renovated!”

    2) “Enjoy your exclusive south facing garden/patio out back”

    3) The economy hadn’t hit the sh*tter yet.
