Co-op of the Day: 570 Ocean Parkway, #1H
The location of this studio apartment at 570 Ocean Parkway may not be everybody’s idea of convenient, but it’s got a lot of charm and the price for an entry-level apartment is hard to beat: $110,000. Granted it’s a studio, but it’s still got 500 square feet of space, which puts the asking price at around $220 a foot. The kitchen could use some updating, but other than that the co-op appears to be in reasonable shape and still in possession of most of its original detail like moldings and wood floors. Think this is a good deal?

A young single person would die of loneliness out there. It’s depressing that this is where you have to exile yourself for a dark little studio with bars on the window. I’m not seeing the fabulousness of this unit.
How about putting up a wall following the bathroom to create a bedroom with 2 windows and incorporate the foyer into the living room?
I think it is a good deal too.
“What would a similar apartment cost four stops closer to the city (7th Ave on the F train)?”
High $200’s.
It’s a short walk to basic amenities and the F train on Ditmas, or you can walk a bit further and catch the Q at Newkirk or hit the restaurants on Cortelyou.

Not terribly inconvenient, and as was pointed out, Ocean Parkway isn’t too loud. Because there’s no trucks or buses, it’s much quieter than, say, 4th Avenue.
Although I believe this apartment is in the rear of the building.
Yes, not sure why cost of living is coming up with this listing.
Cheaper than the $900 Prospect Heights SRO!
Not that that’s a valid point of comparison or anything.
That’s a fair price for the space and the location. I’d call it a good deal. Assuming you’d have to put down 20% since it’s a co-op it would only cost you about 1,000 a month with the mortgage and maint. With the tax deduction on that even less.
