Co-op of the Day: 101 Lafayette Avenue, #5M
We’ve probably done more Co-op of the Day posts about the Griffin, the prewar co-op at 101 Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene, than any other building in the borough, so why stop now! We’ve probably done more Co-op of the Day posts about the Griffin, the prewar co-op at 101 Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene, than any other building in the borough, so why stop now! This one’s a For Sale By Owner studio listing on the Brownstoner Marketplace asking $295,000. To call it large would be a stretch, but it does have lots of original charm (man, we love those casement windows) and a renovated kitchen with great views of the, um, bed. The only thing that looks a little out of place to us is the modern bathroom sink, but that can be easily remedied.

I’m only finding about 450 square feet.
“i think it’s vile when people have beds in a studio apartment. ”
hey, screw u man!! hahaha
We looked at this apartment for our daughter but I kind of felt it was gloomy. The view is out the back of the building and wasn’t the greatest.
It must be quiet though. It was decently put together. Would need a little work but the young man living there redid the kitchen I think.
I think it would be very nice for a single person.
“For two weeks or more, it’s been freezing CONSTANTLY.”
Yes.
I think it has something to do with the Marketplace script – everytime you go to a new page it has to re-load and you have to wait for it. Seems to have started when this was introduced.

a NICEEEEEEEEEEE murhpy bed makes a huge difference in these studios.
or just sleep on a couch? i think it’s vile when people have beds in a studio apartment. Just use a couch for couch purposes and sleeping purposes and your studio will look 1000x better.
*rob*
My contractor/neighbor in P-Town just built a beautiful Murphy bed in a place he’s doing and it was far cheaper to build than buying an actual Murphy bed.
Sort of amazing… my apartment is supposedly only about 150 sq ft bigger, but that translates into TWO big rooms. Seems like a lot of wasted space in the foyer area.
Of course, 500 sq ft could be a HUGE exaggeration…
