Co-op of the Day: 115 Willow Street, #6D
This attractive two-bedroom at 115 Willow Street was just reduced from $675,000 to $635,000. It’s in a very nice prewar building and has plenty of prewar details. Since the price isn’t particularly high for the Brooklyn Heights location, we’re assuming that the small kitchen and/or the lack of a second bathroom must be holding it…

tybur6, I would splurge and splash the cash around too – if I ever become rich myself. that’s the beauty of being rich, I wouldn’t give an F what others think
I do consider it a good use of my money, tybur6. I don’t know what else to say except good luck to you.
After careful consideration and a year of comparison shopping, we paid close to the market price for a two-bedroom in the Heights. If it makes you feel better to mock us or others who make that decision, more power to you.
I do wish you well.
m4l — Better be careful. You’re gonna offend Nomi.
tybur6, answer = got money to burn or THINK they got money to burn. ie when you’re rich, what’s a $1k or $2k per month. when you’re rich, it’s a matter of do I want to vs can I afford it. BK Heights is for the rich
m4l – you have a really good point. I guess it’s like the orthodox jews spending $9 million for a house that would go for $1.5 million in any other neighborhood. It’s a ‘separate from reality’ pricing scale.
But still… it strikes me as odd that you wouldn’t want more for your money. The price differential is just whacked. This price tag (+ monthlies) would get you something almost palatial just a couple miles away. Just so odd to me.
Especially when he falls asleep during superhero missions, forgets why he’s there and loses his dentures.
Boerum — That’s the thing. I really don’t understand why folks don’t WANT MORE for their money. If this place was $450,000 — it would still be pricey in my mind — BUT the price differential for the location, etc., would make some sort of sense.
But this place is just out of whack because of the glorious location.
I mean, this apartment is really not all that special other than the location. It’s on the smaller side, so it’s for either a couple or a very cozy family. The average couple would want to have an office area, hobby/craft table or whatever. So, that would be in the 2nd bedroom… which would be a guest room given the secondary usage.
I dunno. I just find it really hard to fathom that this is considered a good use of money. Don’t you want MORE for $4,000 a month? Seriously.
And don’t respond with the “It’s the market” cuz the market isn’t a one-way street.
Tybur6, BK Heights is where the deep pockets roam so the high prices are acceptable (ie like I dont bitch about the high prices in Manhattan). I reserve my complaints for the regular joes paying BK Heights prices at so so hoods.
Nomi, most of the nice European cities aint cheap – most are more expensive than BK Heights. or were you just trying to offload tybur6 onto them vs. suggesting tybur6 will be happier there
