Co-op of the Day: 256 Bergen Street, #3F
We like the windows and the old floors in this corner one-bedroom at 256 Bergen Street in Boerum Hill, and otherwise it’s perfectly inoffensive (except for that partial dropped ceiling with recessed lighting!). The maintenance is also pretty low at $418 a month. The asking price is $349,000. Worth it? 256 Bergen Street, #3F [Halstead]…

How does the financing work if it says “90%”? Does that mean you only have to put down 10%, or can the bank insist on 20%?
You can apparently get shot in Times Square as well.
Yes, AJ. That was the middle of winter. Just wait for 90 degree nights! Maybe those “first time homebuyers” can crack a 40 on the sidewalk to wash down peanut butter sandwiches, since if they can’t afford $6/ pound tomatoes at Whole Foods, they probably also won’t be able to afford to run AC.
The area is safe. You can get stabbed in park Slope on 7th avenue.
Problem with Whole Foods is… The site they purchased in Gowanus is perched atop a giant pool of benzene.
Will. Never. Open.
Problem with Whole Foods is that you always have to go somewhere else for many of the thibngs you like….Skippy Peanut Butter, Fruit Loops, Chuckles, etc, etc, etc
Also Epiphany, according to that link you posted, that crime occured on November 17th, 2009. Almost 5 months ago.
Epiphany, I said that they were tame compare to Brooklyn standards…meaning that the level of crime is below average compared to NYCHA in Brooklyn. As for the Whole Foods opening, I’m not sure if you were trying to be sarcastic or not…but I don’t think shopping at Whole Foods is going to be on the agenda for a first-time homebuyer…aren’t they expensive?
On a co-op or a condo, the unit square footage will be measured inside the walls of the unit.
