Co-op of the Day: 811 Cortelyou Road, #2L
The first co-op to hit the market in this young year is a one-bedroom at 811 Cortelyou Road. It’s well-proportioned and has nice sunlight and has a nice feel overall; the cabinets in the kitchen and bath, though, scream Home Depot though. I wouldn’t care what the kitchen is, no matter how expensive, or cheap.
I would rather pick out my own cabinets, I usually do not like anyone’s taste except mine. 🙂
It’s like buying a home with granite, but what if that particular granite you do not like, then it is almost worthless….
The kitchen is clean and bright, the cabinets are very traditional or bland, depending on your taste. But nothing some paint, stain, hardware and imagination couldn’t handle. Add me to rob’s yea list 🙂
I think when b’stoner said “scream home depot” he meant “fugly and dated-looking.” I agree with that assessment. I don’t think it’s related to cost – plain white ikea cabs are as cheap as they get and would not have received the same comment.
Total agreement with all who protested the Home Depot bit of snark. I’m surprised noone has commented on the lack of a floorplan in the listing. Based on the Columbia archives this was considered a 2 1/2 room apartment as the kitchen is not a separate room and has no window. The sq. ft. calculation seems very ambitious. There are several other one bedrooms for sale in this building with better layouts but this will probably get close to ask.
Rob;
Well said!!!!
This will sell for very close to ask. The kitchen may be meh, but it isn’t a deal breaker. It makes no sense to spend a lot on a kitchen at this price point, especially since “nicer” is a very taste-specific notion.
I would just need to be paid a big incentive to live that close to Kens is all.
“That kitchen is about as bland and blah as you can get, and a possible deal breaker. For another couple thousand bucks they could have had much nicer cabinets/countertops.

If it can be replaced for so little, how can it be a dealbreaker?
