It’s amazing how easy it is to spot an apartment that’s been renovated by a building sponsor: the telltale shiny counters and Home Depot doors, among other things, instantly give it away. Old apartments shouldn’t look brand new, in our opinion. Or if they do, they should actually be modern. Such is the case with this three-bedroom pad at 61 Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn Heights. In the end, those things probably won’t hurt this place’s chances of selling near the asking price of $1,070,000. After all, three bedrooms in this part of town are hard to come by, especially at this price. What do you think?

Ah, interesting! I’ve noticed two, maybe three former rental apartments in this layout come up for sale in this building, all needing full renovation, but never saw one fixed up or with any decent photos. I know everyone has tons of gripes about the layout, but it strikes me as silly to be so bothered by it. This is a fantastic place for a couple with one kid. You’ve got an office to spare. Big living area. I know, I know, everyone these days thinks you need an en suite bathroom and a bath for every person in the house, but to live in a roomy place like this on Pierrepont, you could do a lot worse.

Dave, I can tell those are MDF doors from here. My last rental had them. I’ve memorized the fake wood pattern.
Guest called it: Not moving because monthly is high & buyer to pay tax.
Snappy, that’s the best description of artisinal etc I’ve heard yet. I’m on a cell, so can’t see clearly, but this apt appears to be renovated to a high contractor standard. These doorways are MDF, and yes they are tacky, sorry. Better to have elves. Kitchen looks fine from here. In any case, I’m sure it’ll sell just fine.
Maintainance is high, buyer pays sponsor’s closing costs according to the listing. This isn’t 2007, buyers closing costs, sellers costs and mansion tax are a big turn off at this pride point since it is really a 2 bedroom with a maid’s room
