This Sunday there’s going to be a gathering in support of the Prospect Park West bike lane convening at Grand Army Plaza at 10:30 a.m. It’ll be followed by an 11 a.m. ride/walk to the end of the lane in Windsor Terrace. Free t-shirts are going to be given out at the start, and at the end some local businesses—including Bark and Blue Sky Bakery—will provide eats. Members of Transportation Alternatives will be stationed along the route to insure that no cross-walking senior citizens are run over by reckless tricycle riders. GMAP

  1. Rob… it there wasn’t an actual LAWSUIT to have the bike lane removed by the rich folk in 9 PPW, then I’d agree with you. It would be “jejune and puerile.”

BUT there is. So this is what happens.

  2. i do NOT like speed bumps, even as a pedestrian! the bank near me has speed bumps in their parking lot and when i cut thru i can’t tell you how many times i nearly trip over them!!

  3. “staggered barriers to slow bikes at pedestrian crossings.”

like speed bumps? then you’ll end up getting jackasses on skateboards and bmx bikes doing jumps off them

  4. There are these super-fancy European things that might unite bike lane supporters and mature PPW owners alike: staggered barriers to slow bikes at pedestrian crossings. Cheap and efficient, so maybe antithetical to true-blue NYers.

  5. the bike lane is already there! what is the point of an actual group ride, to rub it in the faces of those who opposed it? i think the bike lane there is good, but these people are jejune and puerile.
