This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Midwood, Beverley Square West, Fort Greene, and Carroll Gardens. How did they fare?
Big enough for a family, this apartment in Midwood offers large rooms, the design features of its era, and a surprise. The two-bedroom, two-bath unit is located on the fourth floor of 1350 Ocean Parkway, known as Parkway Terrace. No. 4E has pale hardwood floors, white walls and windows on two exposures. Its large foyer has two coat closets and space for a home office or library. This former Co-op of the Day is still available for $410,000, a price cut of $59,000.
With a wraparound porch from which to admire the leafy surroundings, this Colonial Revival standalone offers some curb appeal along with some period details on the interior and plenty of bedroom space. In the Flatbush micronabe of Beverley Square West, 293 Rugby Road also has off street parking. It is a legal two-family used as a single-family with a top-floor guest suite. That’s in addition to the four bedrooms on the second floor. This former House of the Day sold in December for $2.475 million, which was $125,000 under the asking price.
In the Fort Greene Historic District, a classic Italianate brownstone has grand proportions, marble mantels, arched openings, and recent updates. In the same hands for decades, the circa 1866 house is set up with two floor-through apartments over a duplex. This former Open House Pick sold in November for $6.5 million, which was $375,000 over the asking price.
This massive circa 1870s Carroll Gardens brownstone certainly catches the eye with some impressive original interior details, five apartments, parking, and one of the deep front gardens that are a hallmark of the neighborhood. It also boasts an equally eye-popping asking price of $13.995 million. Since it sits on a 52.5-foot-wide lot outside of the petite Carroll Gardens Historic District, 76 1st Place will likely attract those eyeing the development potential. This former House of the Day is still available for $12.5 million, a price cut of $1.495 million.
