The most popular listings on Brownstoner this week include a clapboard Federal style house in Brooklyn Heights, a Williamsburg condo in a converted instrument factory and a Bed Stuy brownstone with plenty of detail.

There were multiple popular listings in Bed Stuy this week, with the rest scattered from Bay Ridge to Williamsburg. The least expensive of the bunch is a two bedroom co-op in Sunset Park for $700,000 and the most expensive a Carroll Gardens brownstone at $5.1 million.

10. Here’s a chance to own a remarkable house and a piece of Brooklyn history. It’s the Federal clapboard frame house at 24 Middagh Street that’s regularly cited as the oldest house in Brooklyn Heights, dating back to the early 19th century — circa 1829 by many an estimate. It’s fabled enough that its listing could feature pull quotes like those used in movie ads: “The queen of Brooklyn Heights houses!”

9. This loft-like Williamsburg condo offers 12-foot ceilings and a corner berth that makes for striking views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. It’s at 60 Broadway on the eighth floor of the Gretsch Building, a former musical instrument factory that was converted in 2005. The place is pretty fab on its own, but there’s also an intriguing opportunity here for the buyer who’s deep-pocketed enough to pull it off (and that’s extremely deep-pocketed).

It is in the best shape of the bunch and may need very little work at all depending on your tastes and needs. The home is five stories and is divided up into an owner’s duplex with a finished cellar and three apartments above.

7. Here’s a big one — a circa-1854 Carroll Gardens brownstone that measures a whopping 34 feet wide, offering almost 6,000 square feet. It’s one of five such houses that stand in a row on the block, between Henry and Hicks streets. Some detail remains within: crown moldings, plaster medallions, a grand curved staircase with a round, detail-adorned skylight at the peak. A good deal of what once must have been there is lost, though, including on the facade.

6. Here’s a genuine two-bedroom in Sunset Park, something that doesn’t come along every day. And it’s a nice one, with prewar details and in perfect move-in shape. In a four-story, 16-unit building, it’s well located to boot, right across from the neighborhood’s titular park. There are views of said park from the living and dining rooms, which are bright and spacious and have high ceilings and nice original wood floors.

The lower unit is duplexed with a family room in the “partially finished” basement, which also holds laundry, a full bath and a passageway to the garage. 4. From what we can see of it — which isn’t a whole lot — this would appear to be a particularly choice Bed Stuy brownstone, loaded with original detail. It’s well located to boot, on a nice Stuy Heights block, at 575 Macon Street, between Malcolm X Boulevard and Patchen Avenue. Built circa 1899, the house is a looker from the outside, with a faux-mansard roof and some Romanesque Revival details.

3. On Jefferson Avenue in Bed Stuy we find a three-story with an interesting aluminum-sided facade, which is having its first showing. This one’s been recently renovated, and not by a flipper, with new kitchens and baths, new windows, new floors and central air conditioning. The renovations extend to the roof, which is new, and the newly rebuilt storage shed in the rear.

The condition here is a mystery, as the photos reveal nothing other than the exterior and a few close-ups of details, including a unique mantel with painted detailing.
