Sampling Berlin's Flea Markets

On Sunday we finally found the time to visit two of Berlin’s best-known flea markets. The first was a smaller and better-curated flea market at Arkonaplatz, which is in Mitte or Prenzlauerberg, depending on who you ask. We also walked a few blocks north to the massive market in Mauerpark. This one offered rows upon rows of vendors selling everything from guitars to socks. Right next door in the park, there was a rock band playing in a stone amphitheater. Quite a scene.
yeah that berlin flea looks about as diverse as the broooklyn flea as well lol
tho im not one to give a crap about diversity. if it’s there, it’s there. im not gonna pine for it. it doesnt seem like most people mingle much anwyay
*rob*
There’s plenty of good cities that aren’t very diverse. Not that you’d want to spend your whole lives there, but a couple of years woiuyld be fine. Lost of countries don’t have the immigration or other historical issues that give the US its diversity.
Not really true, Woodys….London, Paris, Madrid…these are all much more diverse than Berlin.
Delighted that Mrs. B is up and around.
Just a thought…”curated” and “flea market” should never be used in conjunction with each other.
to be fair to Berlin it’s pretty diverse for a European city, Brooklyn is a tough compare…
I hear ya 11217 – I had a similar experience to your Berlin one last time I was in Boston. Just sort of a ‘wtf’ kinda thing.
Well, that’s very true. Berlin is German with a Turkish minority… and a few other miscellaneous Europeans thrown in the mix for good measure.
True, Ty, but the fact remains that Berlin is not diverse and Brooklyn is. Regardless of the Flea, the scene above is what you see everywhere in Berlin.
(psst… I’m not sure the scene at the Brooklyn Flea is that much more ‘diverse’)
