We can’t quite pinpoint why, but for some reason these Ben & Jerry’s ads that have been popping up all over town hold a certain appeal for us…

  1. “ENY- I think you are going to replace benson as the most lovable curmudgeon on brownstoner :-).”

Thanks! It’s an honor to be compared with Benson. I like to make my views known and can handle any opposing views that may come my way. Furthermore, after I make my point, I’m done, and I can certainly understand if people disagree with me. In general, I try not to take myself (or any of the issues raised here) so seriously that I can’t simply move on.

  2. ENY- I think you are going to replace benson as the most lovable curmudgeon on brownstoner :-). My least favorite in bunny tracks from blue bunny. Never ate- probably, thanks to the name and the visual, never will. It’s an unfortunate connection.

  3. it’s named after the hippie band, Phish. no? it’s pretty obvious just by the design and what’s in it. it’s actually really tasty tho 🙂 one of the few flavors ive tried.

  4. That’s what you say, goldie. Just because it’s been around a long time (according to you) doesn’t mean it’s successful. It’s possible that, like you and THL, the owners have some strange affinity for the name “Phish Food.” Furthermore it’s entirely conceivable that the successful B&J flavors are subsidizing the “Phish Food” losses. I’m not saying that’s what’s going on here, but it’s certainly possible. In any event, “Phish Food” is a disgusting name for ice cream.

  5. ENY, tons of brands have names that dont necessarily tie in to their function form or flavor, but are good for recognition, recall, or awareness.

this flavor has been a success long enough that its obviously working.
