The house is big, the original details are lavish, and there are plenty of mod cons, including central air. The exterior of 584 Jefferson Avenue has a rusticated brownstone front, dog-leg stoop, and cornice with deep wood brackets surrounding the top-story windows.

The row was complete by 1893, the same year No. 584 and No. 586 were sold by the builder, Thomas B. Saddington. (He may have been related to John F. Saddington, also a builder; both were active in the area in the 1880s and 1890s.)

It’s set up as a single-family over four stories, with five bedrooms and three bathrooms. There are no fewer than six mantels in the house, as well as wood floors, the original stair, woodwork, moldings, and pass-throughs.

In the traditional spot in the rear of the garden floor, the kitchen has a luxurious amount of cupboards and stone counters arranged around the original cast-iron range built into the chimney. A sun room is in the extension. In the front of the house is the dining room with varnished wainscoting and wood mantel with tile surround.

There are two parlors above with mantels, woodwork, and decorative plaster. A wood deck has stairs down to the garden, where there is a patio with planting beds and trees.

The five bedrooms are arrayed across the upper two floors, where there are also pass-throughs, two full baths, and a laundry room.

The no-fee rental has been in same hands since 2005, and an open house is set for Saturday, January 25 from noon to 1 p.m.

Listed by Chrisette Mignott, Morgan Munsey, and Perri DeFino of Compass, the house is priced at $11,500 a month. What do you think?
