I’m not a shill. Not sure how to prove that, but then again I don’t really care. I’m just tired of generic and boring canned attitudes.
I like moldings and original woodwork as much if not MORE than the next guy, but I can’t afford a place that has those and is still in a decent neighborhood. And YES, there are projects next door, but we’re also in walking distance of ft. greene and brooklyn heights.
Here, i’ll prove I’m not a shill. It’s RETARDED that they call this place Ft. Greene. It’s not.
As long as they all don’t get on the Q or B in the morning with me.
Here come the frownstoners…hating on everything. Knowing nothing, but knowing everyting! I love it, love it, love it. The Avalon is not complete, people move in as it is constructed. People do not pay or water or gas. Yes it is next to the projects, so is Toren, Oro, the Manhattan Bridge, the BQE, MetroTech, brownstones (OMG…welcome Brooklyn!
boberic,
Interesting posts. Any comment on the issue DH raised wrt the landlord pushing utiity costs on to the tenants?
W/d in apartment is a big plus at this price level.
Also, what are the dimensions of your living room? I thought the headline prices were quite good here but was put off by the small living rooms when I looked at the website.
the stink of shrill in this thread smells worse than my fur coat
*rob*
ok – beberic is obvi posting from the Avalon leasing office.
yeah – you’re right 11217 – having a full building is great for DT BK, brining foot traffic and new people to a stretch that was desolate at night, and more people to prop up local businesses – but not necessarily great for the people in the building.
There’s a building on Gold and Tillary advertising heavily on craigslist that looks just as nice, is cheaper than avalon and you won’t have to deal with avalon – the city’s biggest luxury slumlord.
ok – i’m done. has it stopped raining yet?
Don’t pay any attention to them, boberic.
The people on brownstoner DO NOT speak for Brooklyn or even the majority. The people here get proved wrong time and time again, but they never admit when then are wrong.
I’m happy you are enjoying the new place, and I know A TON of people who would be more happy to be able to have their dog, a dishwasher, and garbage disposal over moldings and original woodwork.
A lot of people on brownstoner are very out of touch with the real world. Pay them no mind.
“I’m very happy to see that the Downtown Brooklyn area is attracting renters to these buildings, despite the downturn. At this rate, the place will be fully rented by the end of spring. Again, that’s a GOOD thing for this area and for Brooklyn, no matter how you personally feel about the Avalon”
100% AGREED.
People are choosing to live here. No one is forcing them to do so. New residents to this area is a GREAT thing, no matter how you slice it.
With thousands and thousands of new units to choose from across the city, people are deciding to rent here.
Why would that get some of you so upset?
