We’ve learned from Songza and the NYC Mayor’s Office twitter account that the popular (2 million users in the US and 1 million in Canada) music streaming service has partnered with musician John Legend to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief. Accompanying the description of John Legend’s ‘Do Something’ Mix is the following:

Find the inspiration to get through the work day with this upbeat eclectic mix of soul, funk, hip-hop and rock, hand-picked by John Legend. To provide relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy, Songza is donating $.10 to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC for every person who listens to this playlist. Spread the word!

100% of the money received by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC is going to relief organizations helping the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Songza and John Legend hope to raise $10,000 together in this project.

The playlist consists of artists like Marvin Gaye, Lauryn Hill, Aretha Franklin, and The White Stripes.
