Jackson Heights Life reports that a Key Food is taking over the Trade Fair supermarket at 75-07 37th Avenue, between 75th and 76th Streets. There seems to be some debate on whether or not residents are excited for the grocery store outpost, but it looks like Trade Fair won’t be greatly missed. There’s no news on when, exactly, the businesses are going to change over. GMAP

  1. This Trade Fair was an excellent store. It was generally cheaper on most items than the Foodtown across the street. It also made a much better broiled chicken. I hope the Key Food has the same quality—or better as far as prices and services.

  2. While I did not do the bulk of my grocery shopping at Trade Fair, I did think the store provided a service that is needed in the changing population of Jackson Heights. They were open 24 hours a day and as someone who often gets home late from work, I appreciated the ability to pick up a few last minute things on my way home not to mention the occasional emergency need. Eleven years ago I moved to JH from the East Village where 24 hour delis and stores are abundant. Then the JH streets were empty and dark after midnight. Now I often come home and walking down 37th Ave. there are often people strolling about and even walking their dogs after midnight. I will surely miss the 24 hour convenience and I hope this new Key Foods or Foodtown will consider expanding their hours to meet the need.
