So Major League Soccer commissioned a survey that asked participants about their thoughts on the new soccer stadium coming to Queens, and the results are favorable to MLS. According to the NY Daily News, this is the overall conclusion drawn from the results of the survey:

The study claims 71% of the 650 Queens registered voters surveyed last month support the MLS stadium. Two-thirds are also behind plans to build the stadium in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, according to the report conducted by the Global Strategy Group.

MLS spokeswoman Risa Heller also says they are “hearing a huge amount of enthusiasm from the community about Queens being home to a professional soccer team.” Enthusiasm also rests with the potential jobs that could be created as a result of this project, including “2,100 construction-related jobs, 160 full-time jobs and 750 part-time jobs.”

Assemblyman Francisco Moya (D-Jackson Heights) says, “It’s going to help out the local economy tremendously. It’s an opportunity for young kids to go play in state-of-the-art soccer fields during the day and then go see their heroes play inside the stadium.”

  1. I’m sure those kids will all have season tickets and the fields will be ready from day one. The fields for the people will probably be the first thing the developers do, right? and the land they replace will for sure be land that is useful to the general public. And the other projects won’t interfere at all. the MLS did a poll themselves just to prove it.
