Don’t worry, someone on Craigslist has you covered: “While we all may have differing opinions on religion I know one thing we can ALL agree on; finding and keeping good real estate in New York can be difficult. I’m searching for a situation that could be mutually beneficial to EVERYONE. From what I understand, this Saturday all True Believers will ascend to a sort of holding area where they will remain until Heaven on Earth can be achieved. As someone who will not be saved I’m looking to make the most of my remaining time here. If YOU’RE someone who WILL be saved and you live in a higher end apartment in one of the more desirable neighborhoods in Brooklyn I’d be interested in subletting until your return. Ideally I am seeking a two bedroom, but am definitely open to the possibility of a nicer one bedroom. Anything over two bedrooms would be greedy, and I’m trying to live a bit more piously. Preference will be given to proximity to the park. I am slightly flexible on rent, but I think the true benefit would be knowing that on your return you’ll find your domicile has been well cared for and no matter how long you’ve been gone there will be no chance of me trying to hold on to it. I am able to provide references if need be. Please, no studios.”

  1. People have been dressing in white robes and standing on mountaintops waiting for the Lord to return for the last 2000 years. Some of the dates figured took years to figure out themselves. Rather sad, actually, lives wasted figuring out the unfigurable, instead of being True Believers, in the real sense of the word, and going out to help their fellow man.

    Anyway, almost all of those mountaintop pick up points happened before today’s media, so they never got the coverage that this one has. I’m really surprised this man got as much coverage as he has. I’m sure he and his followers are convinced that all of the derision will cease after they are proved right. I don’t think they have a back-up plan, in case they “miscalculated” once again.

    If anyone posted that they believed in this rapture stuff, then we’d have to stop making fun of it. You can’t get away with making fun of garden variety Christians because they are among the readership.

  5. I just searched CL “Men Seeking Men” and nothing came up with “rapture.” There was a lot of NSA sex and blowjobs and all sorts of other things, including cuddling & kissing, but no rapture to be found.

  7. There is no irony rob. We’re not making fun of their christian beliefs, we’re making fun of their extreme everyone is gonna die tomorrow belief. As for the rest- well, what randi said ^^^^
