A reader wrote in after noticing construction being done at 174 Garfield, the run-down brownstone in Park Slope that sold this past July for $975,000. And, according to ACRIS, the buyer lives just down the block. A building permit was approved in August 2010 to replace all water damaged floors and remove partition walls, and then another at the beginning of December to change the C of O from a three- family to a two-family as part of a “renovation of the entire building.” About time!

As of this week even that hideous sidewalk-shed structure came down. The neighbors must be so relieved! Things are looking so much better there already.
