Sackett Street Addition Now On Display
Months ago we showed you a glass addition under construction, but still covered up, at 463 Sackett Street in Carroll Gardens. Now it’s out in the open, just in time for the springtime sun! Another Glassy Addition on Sackett [Brownstoner] GMAP

too late mtr.
Williamsburg Houses is landmarked.
But granted, they dont look like your average housing project.
Sigh! I like it.
This looks great! Those two adjacent buildings are screwed, the non-screwed buildings aren’t anything particularly special, and the addition is tasteful/inoffensive. I don’t understand the objections. Whoever said it was just an update of similar e. village artists’ garrets was right on.
How much would this cost? I’d love to put a full floor master bedroom suite on my house.
I think they did a fabulous job. Light filled, clean lined structure & well executed from what I can see on the outside. It doesn’t corrupt the house below it but makes it more interesting. It is all very well to talk about setback on a big house but I expect if you set back the front by much it would too little space on this house. On these blocks that already have endured many and various changes to their facades, extensions like these deserve kudos. I agree with dandelion
mtr — obviously you don’t around there because you would know other side of street is houses just the same as this one. no ’60’s project.not even on next block. or block after that. ( and if talking about gowanus houses – they are from the 1950’s)
nice block but not landmark worthy. addition is fine.
Landmarked? This house is across the street from one of those beautiful housing projects from the 60s. If they start landmarking housing projects I think it’s time to disband the LPC.
@dave: I’m sure there are plenty of message boards in Paris, HK, and Tokyo where lots of crap is spouted. Aside from porn, isn’t that what the internet is for?
makes me a little sad.
