Development Watch: The New Russo Row
We’ve been following the renovation of the Russo Realty buildings in Carroll Gardens since we got word the well-known but rundown homes wouldn’t be torn down. Now we’re pleased to see that all three buildings are more or less finished. (Wonder what happened to the old signs, though.) Any thoughts on what these homes could…

Any thoughts on what these homes could go for, given the lower Smith Street location?

Lest you forget what it used to look like…

The signs were donated to the Brooklyn Historical Society.
this is one of my favorite pictures from a while back… where did those signs go?

They will look even better (I think they already look terrific) in spring when those brand new trees in front of each house turn green.
They look nice but you’d have to try hard to find a worse place to live:
Block From Hamilton Ave & elevated BQE –
Under Elevated Train
Diagonally Across from 24hr scrap metal processor
Across St from Gowanus Canal
Across Street from Bayside Fuel Tanks
1/2 block from major intersection of 9th and Smith with major bus stops
Anthing, I mean ANYTHING would look better than the eyesores these homes once were. I like the different color exteriors. Too bad the Smith/9th Street station is closed for the foreseeable future. Think anyone there can still provide notary services?
I like it.. I agree with Dave about the windows.. But looks like something out of a small town upstate…
These are very well done. The dormers on the roof are the perfect thing for these houses. There is nothing like a bedroom with dormer windows, they are very special and have great character -usually with window seats built into the dormer, they are great, much better than a cookie-cutter space favored by most developers.
I also want to point out to all the grim reapers out there that these houses were in very poor condition with lots of damage and problems prior to restoration similar to the frame house we saw yesterday on Carlton Ave that so many wanted to pull the plug on.
I have passed theses and they look great. Not sure i would really want to live there though. Too bad the one to the far left wasn’t re-habbed as well….
I also agree with the OP, I would have liked to see the windows with the 6 lites as well.
