When we caught 446 Degraw in the act of getting a new facade back in September, we didn’t realize that its neighbor on the right would also be getting the same treatment. The inorganic siding at 446 Degraw was replaced with brick as well as the home with blue siding, which made a real effort to emulate the style of the home two doors down. (You can see a before photo from Property Shark after the jump.) Overall, the renovations spruce up the whole block. An interior reno is now happening at 446 Degraw.
New Facade for 446 Degraw Street [Brownstoner] GMAP
I liked the old windows better. All that the old facade needed was new clapboards. ALso, the round-headed door really added a nice touch to the facade.
The new facade is sterile and blah. Sorry.
The windows look dark from the outside when there is nothing on them, (shades, blinds) that is why. It always looks black from the outside looking in during the day.

Looks beautiful!
Someone finally fixes up a fugly facade (or two), and people STILL complain! Jeezus H!
If I read the earlier post correctly, they replaced the wood frame structure with steel and then put up a brick facade? Doubly weird, but to each his own. Wouldn’t it have been easier just to tear down and start again?
why are the windows so dark? is it tinted glass? It looks weird to me.
I’m not the biggest fan either Minard but it’s a step in the right direction.
alright, clean, boring.
