We were intrigued to see this wood frame house at 650 Decatur Street in Bed Stuy had lost its stoop when we passed the other day. We are looking forward to seeing the new one and will post a picture of it hopefully in a few weeks.
It sold in November for $235,000, according to public records. No matter what condition the house was in, that’s an astonishing low price these days.
Looking it up on gmap (Sept. 2014), it looks like it had a pretty simple brick stoop and didn’t have the original railing to begin with. If you look at the houses left of this one, even the ones with original railing have fairly plain looking brick stoops, unlike the houses to the right of 650 (Orange house on) which have more ornate looking stoops. Not sure much was lost that can’t easily be replicated.
