147 Kane Street, a House of the Day in April, sold back in July for $1,700,000, down from an ask of $1,800,000. And now the house, which is adjacent to the infamous Rat Squirrel abode (which was getting a cleaning of its own a few months ago), is starting its makeover process. According to a tipster who sent in this photo, the dumpsters were out over the weekend in preparation for complete gut job. GMAP

  1. I saw this house. Two elderly sisters lived there since the FDR administration. It looked sad and small with rickety stairs but with a half million dollar re-do it could be very nice I’m sure. The location is very nice, except for the hoarder house next door. I am amazed this house sold for this price given the next door neighbor and the condition. 1.7 million is a lot of money in the non-Brownstoner world.
