Landmarked Bronx Brownstone roof repair?

I can’t recommend service providers because I work for Brownstoner, but do a search on this site to see roofers people recommend. As for the landmark question, if you have a flat roof that is not visible from the street, it shouldn’t be an issue. If you have special materials such as slate shingles, I am not sure what to recommend, but I would start by checking with your neighbors who have similar properties.

New to this site and lots of great stuff here! Husband and I recently purchased and moved into a renovated landmarked brownstone in the Bronx. House is semi-detached with an alley on one side, and a party wall between the two houses. Seller’s contractors did not do a good job on the roof and at first big rainstorm, water came in down the party wall at the drainage point on the roof. Seller’s contractors came in once to “repair” the wall and the leak, but at the next rainstorm, the same thing happened, though to a lesser extent. Many attempts were made to contact the seller’s contractors again with no responses at all. With winter rapidly approaching, we have no more time for the run around, and we just need to get this fixed with professional roofers, not general contractors with no working knowledge of dealing with flat roofs. Need recommendations for roofers with experience with landmarked properties who service the South Bronx to survey the property and provide estimates. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
