Living Room Built-In Help
I’m looking for a maker/designer to work with on a living room built-in across a long empty wall: mantel + decorative fireplace at center and bookshelves with lower cabinets on either side. Could be a furniture builder, cabinetmaker, millworker, or carpenter. We have a solid concept and inspiration photos but need someone (or a team of someones) with the ability to create the detailed drawings to get it fully designed and built.

Here’s an idea. It sounds like you want something very specific and to review drawings. You could get a designer to make the drawings. My guess would be 500 dollars. There’s plenty of folks around, but you could also try the online freelancer sites liek fiver. Get some nice drawings done, and then have a bunch of shops bid the drawings. The price will probably be better because they won’t have to spend the time figuring out what you want, and you’ll likely get. I could recommend some folks, but it shouldn’t be hard to find people.
What type of wood are you thinking? Sapele and african mahagony are very popular right now, but an oak could be quite nice for this project, or you could even get away with a softwood. If painted, poplar is an affordable hardwood option.
