kitchen and bath reno ballpark costs
Does anyone have a ballpark cost in $/sqft for a high end renovation of kitchen and bathrooms? Not counting significant structural work except some possible plumbing relocations. Thanks!

Agreed – due to a number of the high fixed costs you will incur regardless of size for a kitchen it’s probably not the best indicator.
Of course, if you had a very high end marble slab and you needed 2 slabs on a larger space that could add $10k, same on flooring and wall tile and once again on cabs.
I’d say $100k for a fairly high end custom kitchen on my size would be a starting point and go up from there. Maybe knock 20k off for a smaller space.
Of course, you could also do it for $20k if you had ikea cabs, quartz counrers and Home Depot appliances and still be left with a great space – but you didn’t ask for budget end of the range.

Is $/sq. ft. a reasonable measure for a high end kitchen renovation? I’d think that the overall costs wouldn’t differ that much between a smallish parlor floor galley kitchen and a large ground floor rear kitchen, but the $/square. ft. figures would be skewed much lower for the latter.

It is the traditional kitchen space of a 18ft brownstone on the garden level – so i guess that makes it in the realm of 300 sq ft? Including high end appliances i would say we were in for about 325 a sq/ft.

Thanks Brit! How much was the cost per sq ft of your larger kitchen?

I think our bathrooms came in about $350 a ft in 2020. Kitchen was hard to say as our space is fairly large which may distort the true cost per sq ft of a regular NYC sized kitchen.
