Crumbling plaster basement ceiling
My basement has a sheet metal ceiling which is under an older plaster/mesh ceiling. The plaster is so old it’s crumbling and anywhere there are cracks in the sheet metal the dust comes out. Looks like a good candidate to get ripped out.
The big problem is that there are sixty years’ worth of gas, water and electric lines mounted into the metal ceiling. Has anyone tried tackling a similar problem?

Did you look into how much that would cost and how long it would take for your basement?

I have the same problem. I was told I have to have an electrician and a plumber come in and temporarily re-route everything for the ceiling to be fixed…If you find a better way to do it please let me know.
