I’m looking for someone to install two Chandliers, one is pretty big, on the parlor and hallway of my brownstone. Seems to be pretty straightforward but I’d like someone who’s done this before. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.  Grazie.

Hire a real electrician for this job.  Do not use a handyman.  I speak from experience as a carpenter and handyman – if the wires are dated and cracking, and the insulation actually breaks, a handyman may just put it back with out taking any time to remedy the situation (he may put some tape on some of the exposed bare wire).  An electrician will have proper insulation sleeves to place over the exposed wires and shrink wrap to fit properly.   Many handymen do not even know this stuff exists.   Cerillo Electric if you are in Park Slope.    Steve

Steve,   In a situation like this do you think plastic electrical tape, covered with friction tape, wouldn’t be safe?
