1418 Pacific Street

Does anyone know why this property at 1418 Pacific Street ( http://realestate.nytimes.com/… is still on the market after nearly 5 years? It first appeared on Brownstoner in 2007 as “House of the Day” and was listed at $999k. The price was reduced to $700k in 2010\. It is located in landmarked Crown Heights North, has loads of detail and the price seems to be right at $700k. Just baffled that this type of house would still be available…is there something else going on???

It’s a good block, and a good house. I would say it’s still overpriced, and probably needs new electric, perhaps plumbing, an upgrade in kitchen and baths, and a lot of cosmetic tlc. If the seller is really interested in selling it, make a lower offer. You might just be the person who comes along at the right time. Bring someone who knows old houses if you go to see it, to get their opinion. Look beyong the details, but don’t let the little stuff (like a peeling ceiling) get you upset. Get an inspector, if you go further.

Go see it and find out. Ask the real estate agent. Maybe it needs a lot of work and is priced too high.
