Where do you see the Gowanus 10 years from now?
Seems great – even along the Gowanus, the EPA’s two year scientific studies found no airborne issues. You can’t swim in it; that is all.

More specifically, what are your thoughts on the teen streets (all the way to Prospect Ave) and 3rd avenue?

Much more expensive than now. Big fights between new home owners and old-timer business owners over noise, trucks and pollution — this always happens in NYC when people start living in traditionally industrial areas. Still in a flood zone. On a more positive note, if you’re on a block that’s largely residential and not too close to the canal, you should be fine.

Sure, yes, but I’ll see it as, in addition to a flood-prone area, as a toxic superfund cleanup site, which, no matter what real estate values are, many people who value their health will not want to live in or on.
