Backflow Preventer - Radiant Heat
We have a backflow preventer as part of our hydronic radiant floor heating system. Any reason this sort of residential installation would not require the annual DEP inspection? We’ve had no notice from the DEP; the plumber relayed the requirement for commercial inspections when onsite, and it would seem we also need to comply, but as a residence it’s not as typically seen. Thanks!

Hi MasterPlvmber, it’s a single family; hopefully that’s the key point. In response to workisfun, I just assumed it’s related to the radiant heat, otherwise not sure why we would have one (but I don’t have an engineering degree :)).

Is this a 1-3 unit residence? Your backflow preventer doesn’t necessarily require annual testing and it probably isn’t even a “testable device” as defined by code.

I’m curious what this means. Is the hydronic radiant not a closed loop? I’ve never heard of these two things together. Always looking to learn!
