Dave, get rid of the hwh and put in an instant on if you have not thought of it. You will love it. Cheaper in the long run.

I know a guy who runs a plumbing crew for a licensed plumbing company. He is fantastic but unlicensed himself so I usually don’t recommend him for jos that need filing or are in coops. But for jobs like this he’s perfect. He does this scale work nights and weekends and is reasonable. Also, if he says he’ll show up, he’ll be there. Peter Dymond 914-826-0181(cell)

Jock, have you read Master Plumber’s tutorial on Instant Hot Water heaters? After reading it I wasn’t so sure about recommending them to my clients. What have you found?

You also need a small electric water heater(a buffer tank) to install. Look at manufaturers installation guidelines. They all recommend that it gets installed.That adds at least another 3-500 dollars to the material cost of the job. Go with a conventional water heater or an indirect if you have a hot water system. And by all means read MP’s article.
