I’d like to have iron bars like this for my windows, for child safety. (The hardstore ones are rather unsightly.) Any ideas of who might do this for a reasonable price?

there are commercially available expandable bars (not the kind you see at HD and Lowes which you do not like) that look similer to what you show in the picture. I am not sure where to get them as I had two pair that I came upon used. they were decent and strong (they were not safety bars but security bars). I can also weld some up for you if they are simple rod or square stock attached to flat stock or angle iron. I can finish and install them as well. Steve
