That’s not strictly accurate, mozeeatupu. The city’s heating regulations are as follows: Between the hours of 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM, if the outside temperature falls below 55 degrees, the inside temperature is required to be at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit; and, Between the hours of 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, if the temperature outside falls below 40 degrees, the inside temperature is required to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit. So, if your house retains heat well (my thermostat read 70 degrees this morning), there’s no need to turn on the heat yet. Of course, if you don’t have tenants, you can keep it as cold as you like!

Turned it on yesterday. It’s set to go on early mornings (5:30 AM to 8:00 AM) only. It’s set back 10° at other times and doesn’t go on. It’s hot water heat so it needs the early startup and keeps warm quite a while after it’s set back).

I turned it on last night but turned it off again today. It’s pointless as it won’t go on at night but went on today in the day when we don’t need it. Weather report says it’s going to be in the mid 50s for the rest of the month. Except for the blip of snow in October (was that last year or the year before?) we usually start the heat sometime in mid November.

I’m working from home today contemplating it. Also have new tenants with zoned heating that I should check on. The previous tenant NEVER turned on his heat (He was Canadian) so the batteries in the thermostat are probably dead.

I have turned it on about a week ago. I have a few places and use a Nest on some and a Honeywell Wifi on one. On average they have been off most days, but might run an hour occasionally (on the cooler nights we’ve had) I am curious if any tenants feel it’s too cold yet, but I have my thermostat set at 71 during the day and 66 at night, but since it’s the first year I’ve put these new thermostats in their current locations, I’m still trying to figure if the temp is accurate for the apartment. Looking forward to a mild winter though!
