has anyone bought a radiator from www.steamradiators.com
Thinking of purchasing the 1-pipe model, Charleston Pro, (http://steamradiators.com/orderingpages/charlestonpro.html) for a few rooms in our house. Has anyone bought these? Do you like them? They look nice and will save us some space, especially in the 2 small bedrooms. Just curious if they’re warm and if you’ve had any problems. Also, do you think it’s a problem to use them in combination with those honking traditional steam radiators in other room throughout the house? Thanks!

I think you’ll be fine. Just do it and don’t look back.

Thanks Master. Do you think it’ll be okay to have 3-4 Charleston Pros and 6 “old fashioned” cast irons radiators as part of the whole system? It’s a 2-family over 3 floors. I don’t know if having the Charlestons AND old fashions could lead to banging / imbalance / any kind of bad issues.

They’re made of steel and will absorb and release heat slightly differently than your old cast iron radiators but not in a very significant way like the difference between cast iron and finned tubes. I installed 4 Charleston Pro rad this past Saturday and my clients are over the moon about them. Mostly because of one unique feature: they give off no odor. They’ve got a powder-coat finish. Nice.

Yes, we spec them all the time. You need to make sure it is sized properly to heat the room.
