Oil burner service?

We are looking for a new oil burner service company. Our present supplier offers great oil prices, but their service division has deteriorated and after a few puff backs last year, we are worried about the health of our equipment. We’re looking for someone who cares about maintaining a system and communicates about what they are doing instead of just taking a wrench to it. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I suppose you’re not interested in sellng parts and service then. As far as fuel oil being cheaper than gas, that won’t last. Nice boiler porn though!

Never buy service from oil company you buy oil from. Fuel consumption directly depends on boiler/burner/heating system set up. Oil company does not have interest in lowering your oil consumption, They are interested in selling parts and oil, all they want to sell oil, the more the merrier. Right now fuel oil per BTU cheaper than gas, and there is no incentives to convert to gas. As per service, it had become a victim of competition between gas utilities companies and oil companies, and as a hard work 24/7 , requiring knowledge of electricity, controls, physics, combustion theory and so on, and paying peanuts for all this, no young people find it an attractive career. So, if you find someone who is good at it, prepare to pay rates many times over that of oil companies. Keep looking, you will find one you need.

This alone is a reason to convert to natural gas in a residential setting. The disappearing skill set of knowing how to properly troubleshoot and tune an oil burner has become a specialty.

I didnt have an oil burner but many of my neighbors used Petro Bros and I know them from PA as well.
